Interview with Patricia Madrigal

July 3, 2018

Patricia is a SuperWOMAN. Her clock has 24 hours and she makes the most of them. She is a woman, a mother, a wife, a worker and she is also a triathlete. Her dedication, effort, sacrifice and constant overcoming to fulfill her dreams is admirable. From Silvia Ayuso's team, we thank you for your generosity in sharing this interview with us.

What is Abundance to you?

I imagine that for many, abundance is success, money and power. For me it is having emotional wealth. It is having happiness, feeling good about myself, loving myself and dedicating myself to what I love the most. In order to have that abundance in my life, I try to attract it. How? By being positive at all times and not giving up in the face of adversity when I want to achieve my dream.

What has been your biggest challenge? My biggest challenge has been finding a way to balance my athletic life with motherhood. I have been linked to sports since I was 9 years old. In those years I was even granted a scholarship by the Madrid Tennis Federation and I had to go to school in the afternoons to be able to train 5 hours every morning. I didn't even have weekends off because I had to compete. I remember the harshness of not being able to have a life like a normal teenager, but it was still worth it. I loved sport and I still love it. Now, sport is a way of life that makes me feel an immense happiness that is difficult to express. When my daughter was born almost 4 years ago, everyone told me that it would be impossible for me to balance my sporting life with motherhood. And much less maintain the rhythm of training and competition that I had. But nothing could have been further from the truth.

Today I am a triathlete and I combine amateur competitions with my job with an airline company. I wake up at 5 a.m. every day and maintain an average of two hours of training per day. And yet, I still have time to enjoy my little treasure that is my daughter.

What advice would you give? The key is not to lose your identity as a person. That implies willpower and a lot of organization. It's not easy, but it can be done. If you are passionate about something, don't abandon it just because you are a mother. Think that you are first and foremost a person and you must take care of yourself and love yourself. Being happy with yourself is very important.
