Mind and body: simply water

Speaking of water, one of my favorite quotes was said by Bruce Lee philosophizing about the flow of life: "Don't settle into a form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind. Be shapeless, formless, like water. If you put water in a cup it becomes the cup, if you put water in a bottle it becomes the bottle, if you put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend. Running water never becomes stale, so you have to keep flowing". 

Yes, you have to flow and also hydrate. As Camarón said, water cleans. Water is life. Drinking water is essential for our body to function properly. You have to always drink and much more in the summer because there is a risk of dehydration. 

 

 

But what exactly does water do in our organism? It has always been said that about 2/3 of the human body is made up of water. And it is true; water makes up the majority of our cells and is present in muscles (75%), bones (22%) and almost all vital processes. For example, it regulates the temperature of the brain; it moistens oxygen for breathing; it cushions joints and protects against trauma; it undoes waste; it converts food into energy; it lubricates the digestive system and all the tissues protected by mucous membranes; it activates metabolism; it is a diuretic and a laxative; it helps the body absorb nutrients. Remember, if you want to be healthy and have smooth, young skin, you have to drink Water. 

 

If you don't know how much water you should drink you can use the following formula: 

BODYWEIGHT IN KILOS divided by 7 is equal to the number of 250 ml GLASSES OF WATER you need to consume every day. 

(Ex. 84 kg weight/7 = 12 glasses of 250 ml) 

 

And if you want to start today with this beneficial habit, you can practice these tricks: 

1. Drink water as soon as you get up: It will help you avoid constipation and if you add a few drops of lemon, it will alkalinize your PH. 

2. Always carry a bottle of water with you. You will stay hydrated and avoid cravings. 

3. Drink a couple of glasses of water half an hour before eating. It will help you relax and eat less.
